About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their innovative R&D team based in Milton Keynes . This role is pivotal in shaping the future of vehicle design, focusing on creating aesthetically pleasing, functional, and aerodynamic vehicle components. You will be responsible for translating concepts into detailed designs, utilizing advanced CAD software and collaborating closely with manufacturing and engineering departments to ensure feasibility and quality. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automotive exterior and interior components from concept to production.
- Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings.
- Perform FEA analysis and simulations to optimize designs for strength, durability, and weight.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, aerodynamics, manufacturing, and testing departments.
- Ensure designs meet all regulatory requirements, performance targets, and aesthetic standards.
- Develop and maintain design documentation, including BOMs and technical specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in automotive design engineering, with a strong portfolio of work.
- Expertise in 3D CAD modeling and surfacing techniques.
- Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and automotive component integration.
- Experience with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present design concepts effectively.
