About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their innovative R&D team in Edinburgh . You will be at the forefront of developing next-generation automotive components and systems, contributing significantly to the company's future product roadmap. This role requires a blend of creative design thinking, rigorous engineering principles, and a deep understanding of automotive manufacturing processes. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, testing, and project management, to bring innovative designs from concept to production. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex automotive components and systems using CAD software.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration simulations, to validate designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation processes, interpreting results and implementing necessary design modifications.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of design excellence.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in automotive design engineering .
- Expert proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CAE tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and automotive standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
