About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician with expertise in genomics to join their dynamic research team in Sunderland . Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
- Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets.
- Collaborate with research scientists to design experiments and interpret results related to genetic variations and gene expression.
- Develop and implement statistical and computational methods for data analysis and visualization.
- Contribute to the development of new algorithms and tools for genomic data analysis.
- Document methodologies, results, and findings clearly and concisely.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related quantitative field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in applied bioinformatics, with a strong focus on genomics data analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with relevant bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Hands-on experience with NGS data analysis workflows (e.g., alignment, variant calling, RNA-seq analysis).
- Strong understanding of statistical principles and their application in biological data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team in Sunderland .
