Senior Bioinformatician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join their expanding scientific research division in Bradford . This role is central to advancing our understanding of complex biological systems through the application of computational approaches to large-scale omics data. You will play a key part in developing and implementing cutting-edge bioinformatics pipelines, collaborating with experimental biologists, and contributing to the interpretation of genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole-genome, exome, and RNA-Seq.
• Analyze and interpret complex biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) to identify key biological insights, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
• Collaborate with experimental scientists to define research questions, design experiments, and provide computational support for data analysis.
• Develop and implement statistical and machine learning methods for biological data analysis.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of data analysis through rigorous validation and quality control procedures.
• Communicate findings effectively through reports, presentations, and publications to scientific audiences in Bradford and beyond.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, with a strong focus on NGS data.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and their application to biological data.
• Experience with high-performance computing environments and shell scripting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
