About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Biologist to join their innovative research team in Leeds . This role involves the development and application of sophisticated computational approaches to analyze complex biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. You will work closely with experimental scientists and clinicians to derive meaningful insights that drive drug discovery and therapeutic development. The position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent programming skills, and a passion for solving challenging biological questions through data-driven methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement computational strategies for analyzing large-scale biological data from various high-throughput platforms.
- Develop and maintain analytical pipelines for genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics data.
- Collaborate with bench scientists to interpret experimental results and generate new hypotheses.
- Utilize statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to identify patterns and predict biological outcomes.
- Contribute to the visualization and communication of complex data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and reproducibility of computational analyses.
Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in computational biology or a closely related area.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with relevant scientific libraries.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and biological databases.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and high-performance computing environments is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
