About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland . This vital role involves the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for designing drilling programs, managing equipment, and overseeing on-site operations, often working closely with a multidisciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, and production engineers. This position offers a challenging and rewarding career path within the energy sector, contributing directly to the company's operational success.

Key Responsibilities

Develop comprehensive drilling plans and programs, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Select appropriate drilling equipment , materials, and services.
Supervise drilling operations, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting.
Perform directional drilling design and execution.
Monitor drilling performance metrics, identify non-productive time (NPT), and implement improvements.
Conduct post-drill analysis and lessons learned sessions to enhance future operations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in drilling engineering , with significant hands-on field experience.
Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, well control, and HSE regulations.
Proficiency in drilling simulation software and reporting tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
