About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operations team based in Manchester . This role is essential for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations across various projects within the energy industry . You will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing drilling programs, managing drilling risks, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This is a challenging and rewarding position for a seasoned professional looking to contribute to complex drilling campaigns and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive drilling plans and programs, including well design, casing programs, and cementing strategies.
- Manage drilling operations on-site and remotely, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational objectives.
- Perform daily drilling performance analysis, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
- Oversee the selection and management of drilling service providers and equipment.
- Conduct post-drilling reviews and implement lessons learned to enhance future operations.
- Ensure all drilling activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer , with a significant portion in operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with complex drilling challenges, including deepwater, high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT), or unconventional wells.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing, well control, and directional drilling techniques.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage budgets effectively.
