About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Drilling Engineer to join their team based in Reading . This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will manage drilling programs from conception to completion, overseeing rig operations, equipment, and personnel. The position requires a strong technical background in drilling technologies, a commitment to safety, and the ability to solve complex problems in challenging offshore or onshore environments. You will be a key technical authority, mentoring junior staff and contributing to strategic drilling planning.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed drilling programs, including well design, casing schemes, and fluid selection.
Supervise rig operations and provide technical guidance to drilling crews and service providers.
Manage drilling budgets, track costs, and implement measures to optimize expenditures.
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for potential drilling hazards.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Perform post-well analysis and document lessons learned to improve future operations.

Requirements

A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry.
Expertise in well control, drilling fluids, cementing, directional drilling, and completion technologies.
Proven experience in managing drilling operations and budgets.
Strong understanding of rig equipment and operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
