About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and safety-focused Senior Drilling Engineer to join their operational team in Glasgow . This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of all drilling operations, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget. You will play a critical role in designing well programs, selecting appropriate equipment, managing drilling risks, and overseeing field operations. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to best practices in well construction within the challenging oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to achieve operational goals and maintain the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive drilling programs and well designs, including casing, cementing, and directional drilling plans.
- Plan and procure necessary equipment, services, and personnel for drilling operations.
- Manage and supervise drilling operations on-site, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate drilling risks, including wellbore stability, lost circulation, and formation pressures.
- Monitor drilling performance, analyze daily reports, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and minimize non-productive time (NPT).
- Conduct post-drilling analysis and prepare detailed reports on well performance and lessons learned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in drilling engineering and operations.
- Proven experience in planning and executing complex onshore and offshore drilling campaigns.
- Strong knowledge of drilling fluids, cementing technology, well control, and directional drilling.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., API, IADC).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with a strong emphasis on safety.
