About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead critical projects involving grid infrastructure development and upgrades in the Cambridge area. This senior position demands a deep understanding of high-voltage electrical systems, substations, and transmission networks, ensuring the reliable and efficient delivery of power. You will be instrumental in planning, designing, and overseeing the implementation of complex electrical projects, contributing significantly to the energy network's capacity and resilience, within a company driving innovation in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and specification of high-voltage electrical equipment and systems for substations and transmission lines.
- Perform advanced power system studies, including load flow, fault analysis, stability studies, and protection coordination.
- Develop and review detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project execution from conception to completion.
- Ensure all designs and implementations adhere to the highest safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a specialization in power systems.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with extensive work on grid infrastructure and high-voltage systems.
- Expertise in substation design, protection schemes, and transmission network planning.
- Proficiency with industry-standard power system analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP).
- Demonstrated experience in project management and leading technical teams.
- Strong understanding of the UK's energy regulatory environment and grid codes.
