About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Power Distribution to join their established team in Cambridge . This role is critical in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the company's electrical infrastructure. You will be responsible for the design, planning, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage and medium-voltage distribution systems, substation design, and grid connection projects. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical understanding of power systems, strong project management skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of power distribution substations and overhead/underground power lines.
- Develop technical specifications, project scopes, and cost estimates for distribution projects.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
- Conduct load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination studies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical system issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power distribution systems .
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, SKM).
- Experience with substation design, protection relaying, and control systems.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes (e.g., NESC, IEEE).
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Chartered Engineer status is a significant advantage.
