About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Geologist to join their dynamic mining operations based near Leicester . You will play a crucial role in the exploration, evaluation, and development of mineral resources. This position involves leading geological surveys, interpreting complex data, and providing expert recommendations to guide extraction strategies and ensure resource viability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles and a proven track record in the mining sector, contributing to a team dedicated to safe, efficient, and sustainable resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological mapping and surveys to identify and assess mineral deposits.
- Analyze and interpret core samples, assay data, and geophysical information to determine resource quality and quantity.
- Develop and implement exploration programs and drilling strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive geological reports and models for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with mining engineers to optimize extraction plans based on geological findings.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the operational areas.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in geological exploration and resource assessment within the mining industry .
- Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine).
- Strong understanding of mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology relevant to ore body formation.
- Experience in supervising field teams and managing exploration projects.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
