About the Role
Our client, a leading player in the mining industry , is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their esteemed team based in London, England . This critical role involves providing expert geotechnical advice and support for a range of mining projects, ensuring the safety, stability, and efficiency of all operations. You will be instrumental in shaping the geotechnical strategies for new and existing mine sites, contributing directly to the company's success and operational integrity in a dynamic global market. This position offers the chance to work on challenging projects and contribute to the responsible extraction of vital resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations, including site characterization, soil and rock mechanics analysis, and slope stability assessments for mining operations .
- Develop and implement geotechnical design parameters for mine infrastructure, including open pits, underground excavations, and waste dumps.
- Oversee and interpret data from geotechnical drilling , testing, and monitoring programs.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies for project stakeholders.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, mining engineers, and environmental specialists.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering , with a significant focus on the mining sector.
- Proven expertise in numerical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, Plaxis ) for geotechnical analysis.
- Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and underground/open-pit mining methods.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) designation is highly desirable.
