About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to bolster their specialist team based in Portsmouth . This role is vital for providing expert advice and solutions for a wide range of foundation design, ground investigation, and slope stability projects across the Hampshire region and beyond. You will lead complex geotechnical assessments, manage site investigations, and develop innovative design strategies, working on challenging projects for major clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an established geotechnical expert to take on greater responsibility and contribute to high-profile infrastructure and development schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including desk studies, site reconnaissance, and ground investigation design.
- Interpret and analyse geotechnical data from site investigations, including soil and rock mechanics testing.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, including foundation design recommendations, slope stability analyses, and ground improvement strategies.
- Oversee the preparation of technical drawings and specifications for geotechnical works.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice to internal project teams, clients, and contractors.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs comply with relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics , rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, Geo5) and data analysis tools.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
