About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic Senior Grid Modernisation Engineer to join their forward-thinking team based remotely, supporting projects across Northern Ireland . This role is instrumental in driving the evolution of the power grid to accommodate increasing demands from renewable energy sources and electric transportation. You will focus on designing, implementing, and overseeing advanced grid technologies and infrastructure upgrades that enhance reliability, efficiency, and resilience. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of power systems, smart grid technologies, and a commitment to building a sustainable energy future for the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies for grid modernisation, including smart grid technologies and automation.
- Analyse grid performance data to identify areas for improvement and capacity enhancement.
- Design and specify upgrades for transmission and distribution networks, incorporating advanced metering and control systems.
- Oversee the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) and renewable generation into the grid.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies, utilities, and technology providers to ensure project success.
- Manage technical aspects of grid modernisation projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on grid modernisation and smart grid technologies.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, substation automation, and communication networks.
- Experience with power flow analysis, load forecasting, and grid stability studies.
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration challenges and solutions.
- Excellent analytical, project management, and communication skills.
