About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Hardware Engineer with expertise in Power Electronics to join their dedicated engineering team in Liverpool . This role is essential for the design, development, and testing of innovative power conversion systems that are critical to the next generation of energy solutions. You will lead complex hardware projects from concept through to production, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and performance meet stringent industry standards. This is an on-site position, offering hands-on engagement with state-of-the-art technology and collaborative problem-solving within a leading R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate high-power electronic circuits and systems for applications such as inverters, converters, and power supplies.
- Conduct detailed component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout design, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform rigorous testing and characterization of hardware prototypes, including thermal, electrical, and environmental stress testing.
- Collaborate with firmware and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and control systems.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Mentor junior hardware engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of hardware design processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in designing and developing power electronic circuits and systems.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).
- Strong understanding of semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs), control theory, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC ).
- Experience with laboratory test equipment and measurement techniques for power electronics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills are essential for this role in Liverpool .
