About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Legal Counsel with a strong background in Commercial Contracts to join their legal department in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK . This is a key role where you will lead the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements, provide strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders, and manage contractual risks associated with the company's diverse business operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all contractual arrangements align with the company’s strategic objectives and are executed with precision and foresight, fostering strong relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the negotiation, drafting, and finalisation of high-value and complex commercial contracts across various business functions.
- Provide expert legal advice on contract interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution strategies.
- Develop and implement best practices for contract management and standard template usage.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, sales, marketing, and operations teams to support their commercial objectives.
- Manage and mentor junior legal staff involved in contract review and administration.
- Stay abreast of legislative changes and industry trends impacting commercial agreements.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 8 years' experience focused on commercial contracts.
- Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of complex commercial agreements (e.g., SaaS, partnerships, supply chain).
- Strong understanding of UK contract law and commercial best practices.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to provide commercially pragmatic legal advice.
- Proven leadership capabilities and experience in managing legal projects or teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills for a hybrid environment.
