About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative marine technology division in Plymouth . This role is focused on the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for maritime applications, including subsea equipment and naval systems. You will lead design efforts, conduct rigorous analysis, and ensure the reliability and performance of critical components in demanding marine environments. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of marine equipment, subsea systems, and associated components.
- Perform detailed stress, vibration, and thermal analysis using FEA software to validate designs for harsh marine conditions.
- Create comprehensive engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
- Collaborate closely with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure integrated system solutions.
- Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation, ensuring compliance with maritime standards.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineering staff in the Plymouth team.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, with specific experience in marine technology or offshore industries.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and advanced FEA tools.
- Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, material science relevant to marine environments, and naval architecture principles.
- Experience with project management and leading engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills for effective teamwork in a hybrid setting.
