About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to their vital power generation projects based in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role involves the design, analysis, and implementation of complex mechanical systems for power plants, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and safety. You will work within a highly skilled engineering team, leading technical aspects of projects and mentoring junior engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and engineering of power generation equipment and systems, including turbines, generators, and associated infrastructure.
- Perform advanced engineering analyses such as stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics calculations to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Develop detailed technical specifications, P&IDs, and engineering drawings using relevant CAD and simulation software .
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, and site operations, to ensure successful project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Provide expert technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, and support the commissioning and operational phases of power generation facilities.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in the power generation or energy sector.
- Expertise in the design and analysis of rotating machinery, pressure vessels, and piping systems.
- Proficiency with FEA, CFD, and CAD software packages.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics principles relevant to power generation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, capable of effective work in a hybrid setting in Derby .
