About the Role
Our client requires a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer specializing in open-pit operations to join their team in Liverpool, Merseyside . This role is essential for the strategic planning, design, and execution of safe, efficient, and cost-effective open-pit mining activities. You will play a key role in optimizing mine plans, managing resources, and ensuring the successful implementation of mining projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in open-pit mining methods, drill and blast, and fleet management, contributing significantly to the operational success of the mine.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize short-term and long-term open-pit mine plans using specialized mining software.
- Design and oversee drill and blast patterns to achieve optimal fragmentation and mine performance.
- Select and manage mining equipment fleets, ensuring efficient utilization and maintenance.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining operations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior mining engineers and site personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in open-pit mining engineering .
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Surpac, or Vulcan .
- Strong understanding of drill and blast principles, geotechnical considerations, and fleet management .
- Experience in resource modeling and reserve estimation is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
