About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Research Scientist with a strong background in Biochemistry to join their established research facility in Reading, Berkshire . This role focuses on elucidating biochemical pathways and mechanisms underlying various disease states, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets. You will lead experimental design, conduct complex biochemical assays, and interpret data to drive research projects forward. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a well-equipped laboratory, collaborate with a team of experienced scientists, and contribute to impactful scientific research in a traditional, in-person setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and conduct advanced biochemical experiments to investigate enzyme kinetics, protein-protein interactions, and metabolic pathways.
- Develop and validate novel biochemical assays for target validation and screening.
- Purify and characterize proteins and other biomolecules using various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.
- Troubleshoot complex experimental issues and guide junior scientists in biochemical methodologies.
- Document experimental procedures and results meticulously, and prepare data for presentations and publications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in biochemistry research.
- Extensive hands-on experience with techniques such as enzyme kinetics, protein purification, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy.
- Proven ability to design and execute rigorous biochemical experiments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
