Senior Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Scientist to join their vibrant drug discovery team in Bradford . This role is central to identifying and developing novel small molecule and biologic therapeutics for unmet medical needs. You will lead critical research activities, including target validation, hit identification, and lead optimization, employing a wide array of cutting-edge biochemical and cellular assays. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in medicinal chemistry or a related discipline and will contribute to shaping the company's drug development pipeline. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute biochemical and cellular assays to support drug discovery programs.
• Identify and validate novel drug targets, and contribute to hit-to-lead and lead optimization campaigns.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to advance small molecule and biologic drug candidates.
• Develop and implement screening strategies and manage compound libraries.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, and present findings to project teams and management.
• Contribute to the preparation of patent applications and scientific publications.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in drug discovery research, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in assay development, screening technologies, and target validation.
• Strong understanding of medicinal chemistry principles and drug development processes.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
