Senior Scientist - Drug Discovery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist to join their dynamic Drug Discovery team in Bristol . This role is critical in identifying and validating novel therapeutic targets and advancing small molecule and biologic drug candidates through the early stages of development. You will lead scientific investigations, design innovative experiments, and collaborate closely with medicinal chemists, biologists, and pharmacologists. The ideal candidate possesses a strong track record in small molecule or biologic drug discovery and a passion for bringing innovative medicines to patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental strategies to identify and validate novel drug targets and pathways.
• Develop and optimize assays for screening and characterizing drug candidates.
• Lead cross-functional project teams, ensuring efficient progress and timely delivery of milestones.
• Analyze and interpret complex biological data, and present findings to project teams and senior management.
• Contribute to the design of structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies and optimize lead compounds.
• Stay current with scientific literature and emerging technologies in drug discovery.

Requirements

• PhD in Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, focused on drug discovery.
• Proven expertise in at least one therapeutic area and modality (e.g., small molecules, biologics).
• Strong understanding of assay development, target validation, and early-stage drug development processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
