About the Role
Our client, a forward-thinking game development studio based in Nottingham , is looking for a highly experienced Senior Technical Director to lead their engineering efforts. This executive-level position is responsible for defining and driving the technical vision and strategy for multiple game projects. You will oversee the core engine development, ensure robust infrastructure, and lead a team of talented engineers in creating cutting-edge, high-performance games. Key Responsibilities
- Define and champion the overall technical vision and architecture for game projects.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Oversee the development and optimization of the game engine and core systems.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and stability of game builds across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with creative directors, producers, and other leads to align technical execution with project goals.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating and implementing new solutions where appropriate.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in game development , with a significant portion in a senior technical leadership role (e.g., Lead Programmer, Technical Director).
- Expertise in C++ and a deep understanding of 3D graphics, engine architecture, and performance optimization.
- Proven experience managing large-scale engineering teams and complex software development projects.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles , design patterns, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with console development (e.g., PlayStation, Xbox) is highly desirable.
