About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join their dynamic event catering team in Belfast . This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high-volume, creative environment, supporting the Head Chef in all kitchen operations. You will be involved in menu development, food preparation, and ensuring the highest culinary standards are met for a diverse range of events. The successful candidate will possess a strong passion for food, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure in a busy kitchen setting within Northern Ireland's vibrant hospitality scene.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and executing menus for various events.
- Oversee and manage kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring smooth operation.
- Maintain impeccable standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Manage inventory, stock control, and ordering of ingredients to ensure cost-effectiveness and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, health, and safety regulations.
- Contribute creative ideas for menu development and culinary innovation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Commis Chef with leadership potential in a professional kitchen.
- Solid understanding of culinary techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP principles.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the kitchen team and management.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
