About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a forward-thinking primary school in Manchester . In this vital role, you will lead the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the support required to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff, parents, external agencies, and the students themselves to develop and implement effective support strategies. This position is crucial to maintaining an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the SEN support plan for identified students.
Liaise with parents/carers, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to SEND support.
Advise and train other school staff on SEN best practices and inclusive teaching strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students with SEND, including EHC plans.
Oversee the deployment of support staff and resources allocated to SEND provision.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (or willingness to obtain).
Proven experience working with children with a range of SEND needs.
In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to foster strong relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
