About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to manage and develop provision for students with special educational needs in Milton Keynes . This vital role requires a proactive individual to work closely with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure all learners receive the support they need to thrive. You will be instrumental in developing inclusive practices and ensuring compliance with SEND legislation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
- Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the SEND support system, including identifying and assessing pupil needs.
- Liaise effectively with parents/carers, teaching staff, and external professionals (e.g., educational psychologists, speech therapists).
- Support teaching staff in understanding and meeting the needs of pupils with SEND through training and guidance.
- Maintain accurate records of SEND students and manage Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans.
- Champion an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and supports all learners.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to undertake it.
- Significant experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
- Thorough knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
