About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join their vibrant primary school team in Norwich . This vital role involves overseeing the provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they receive the support necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers, parents, external agencies, and the pupils themselves to create inclusive and effective learning environments. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Coordinate the identification and assessment of pupils with SEND, ensuring timely interventions.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies (e.g., educational psychologists, health services) to support pupils' needs.
• Support teachers in differentiating instruction and providing appropriate support within the classroom.
• Maintain accurate records of SEND pupils, including Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Advise and train school staff on SEND best practices and legal requirements.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience teaching pupils with a range of SEND.
• A recognised qualification in Special Educational Needs Coordination (e.g., the National Award for SEN Coordination).
• In-depth knowledge of current SEND legislation and guidance.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage a complex workload and work effectively under pressure.
