About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and strategic Sports Development Officer to champion sports participation and develop new initiatives across Cambridge and the surrounding areas. This role involves working with local authorities, sports clubs, schools, and community groups to increase sports engagement and improve facilities. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, securing funding, and implementing programs that promote active lifestyles and create pathways for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport, making a significant impact in the Cambridgeshire region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sports participation and physical activity across the community.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including local clubs, schools, and governing bodies.
- Identify funding opportunities and lead on grant applications to support sports development projects.
- Organize and deliver sports events, festivals, and coaching programs for various target groups.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sports development initiatives, providing reports on progress and outcomes.
- Promote safeguarding best practices and ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
Requirements
- Experience in sports development, community development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of sports governance, funding, and program management.
- Excellent project management, communication, and networking skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
- A relevant degree or qualification in sports science, management, or a related discipline is preferred.
