About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Optical Network Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team. This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and optimisation of our client's fibre optic network infrastructure, ensuring high-capacity, reliable data transmission. You will work with cutting-edge optical technologies, contribute to network expansion projects, and troubleshoot complex issues within the optical layer. Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and implement fibre optic network solutions, including DWDM, OTN, and Ethernet over fibre.
- Monitor the performance and health of the optical network, identifying and resolving faults promptly.
- Conduct site surveys and analyse network requirements to propose optimal optical network designs.
- Manage and maintain optical transmission equipment, including amplifiers, multiplexers, and transponders.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to test and validate new optical hardware and software.
- Develop and update documentation for optical network configurations, plans, and procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 4 years' hands-on experience with optical networking technologies and equipment.
- Strong understanding of fibre optic principles, testing methodologies (OTDR, power meters), and standards.
- Experience with DWDM, CWDM, OTN, and Ethernet services over fibre.
- Proficiency in network documentation and design tools.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a remote team environment.
