Telecoms Optical Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Optical Network Engineer to join their innovative, fully remote team. Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement fibre optic network solutions, including DWDM, OTN, and Ethernet over fibre.
• Monitor the performance and health of the optical network, identifying and resolving faults promptly.
• Conduct site surveys and analyse network requirements to propose optimal optical network designs.
• Manage and maintain optical transmission equipment, including amplifiers, multiplexers, and transponders.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to test and validate new optical hardware and software.
• Develop and update documentation for optical network configurations, plans, and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years' hands-on experience with optical networking technologies and equipment.
• Strong understanding of fibre optic principles, testing methodologies (OTDR, power meters), and standards.
• Experience with DWDM, CWDM, OTN, and Ethernet services over fibre.
• Proficiency in network documentation and design tools.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a remote team environment.
