About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Ventilation Engineer to join their team supporting underground mining operations near Derby . This vital role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing ventilation systems to ensure safe and healthy working environments by controlling air quality, temperature, and dust levels. You will work closely with mine management and safety officers to optimize airflow and maintain compliance with strict UK health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems, including fan selection, ducting, and sealing strategies.
- Conduct airflow and gas monitoring surveys to assess environmental conditions.
- Develop ventilation plans and ensure they meet regulatory requirements for air quality and temperature.
- Troubleshoot ventilation issues and implement solutions to improve system performance.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation designs into mine development.
- Maintain detailed records of ventilation surveys, system performance, and compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, specifically in underground mining.
- Strong knowledge of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency with ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, Surpac).
- Experience with air quality monitoring and gas detection equipment.
- Understanding of UK mining health and safety legislation related to ventilation.
