About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to contribute to their expert team in Reading . This role focuses on managing and optimizing water resources, including flood risk assessment, hydrological analysis, and the design of water infrastructure. You will play a key part in ensuring the sustainable use and management of water resources for both development and environmental protection. The position offers a fantastic opportunity to work on critical water management projects within the Thames Valley region and develop your expertise in this vital engineering discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses to assess flood risk and water availability.
- Design and implement flood defense schemes and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
- Develop water management strategies for new developments and existing infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed reports, technical specifications, and design drawings related to water resources.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders on water-related matters.
- Undertake site investigations and provide technical support during construction phases.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in water resources.
- Experience in hydrological modeling, flood risk assessment, and water infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in relevant software packages such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, or equivalent.
- Understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
