Water Resources Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable Water Resources Engineer to join their environmental engineering team in Edinburgh . This role focuses on the planning, design, and management of water-related infrastructure, including flood defence systems, drainage networks, and water supply systems. You will play a key role in developing sustainable solutions to water management challenges, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and contributing to resilient infrastructure development across Scotland. This position offers a unique blend of technical analysis and project delivery in a critical area of civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop designs for flood risk management strategies and surface water drainage systems.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for rivers, canals, and urban drainage networks.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and drawings for water infrastructure projects.
• Assess water resources, water quality, and environmental impacts of developments.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, regulators, and other stakeholders on water projects.
• Contribute to the development of sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS).

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in hydrology , hydraulics, and water resource management.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, or SWMM.
• Knowledge of UK environmental legislation and water quality standards .
• Familiarity with SUDS design principles and practices.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to present complex technical information clearly.
