About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and data-driven Category Development Manager to lead category growth initiatives within the FMCG sector in Belfast . This role is instrumental in understanding consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and retail execution to drive sales and profitability across key product categories. You will work closely with sales, marketing, and insights teams to develop compelling category strategies and recommendations for retail partners. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a passion for identifying growth opportunities in the fast-moving consumer goods market.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze category performance, market trends, and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and strategic priorities for the FMCG category.
- Develop and present data-backed category strategies, plans, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and key retail partners.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure effective implementation of category initiatives at the point of sale.
- Work with the marketing team to align category strategies with brand plans and promotional activities.
- Monitor competitor activities and market dynamics to identify potential threats and opportunities.
- Optimize product assortment, pricing, and merchandising strategies to maximize category sales and profitability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in category management, brand management, or sales analysis, preferably in the FMCG industry.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent understanding of retail dynamics, shopper marketing, and category planning principles.
- Proficiency in category management software, data analysis tools, and presentation software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
