Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent Construction Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Sunderland . You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on our construction sites. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying hazards, implementing safety protocols, and promoting a strong safety culture among all site personnel. The hybrid nature of this role allows for effective site supervision while also providing flexibility for administrative and planning tasks conducted remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety plans for construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide H&S training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and clients on all H&S related matters.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction sector.
• Relevant certification such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
