About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Drilling Engineer to join their operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is essential for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution of drilling operations for exploration and production wells. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing drilling programs, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of experts to overcome operational challenges and contribute to the successful exploitation of hydrocarbon resources in the Oil & Gas sector, playing a pivotal role in field development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed drilling plans and programs, including wellbore trajectories, casing designs, and mud programs.
- Supervise drilling operations on-site or remotely, ensuring adherence to plans and safety standards.
- Manage drilling rig logistics and personnel, coordinating with service providers.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for drilling hazards.
- Monitor drilling performance, analyze data, and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce non-productive time.
- Manage drilling equipment and consumables inventory, ensuring availability and cost control.
Requirements
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering , with a strong understanding of various drilling techniques.
- Proficiency in drilling software and directional drilling principles.
- In-depth knowledge of well control procedures and safety regulations in the Oil & Gas industry .
- Experience with complex well constructions and challenging geological formations is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
