About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Drilling Fluids Engineer to join their technical services team in Cambridge . This role is vital for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of drilling operations through the effective management of drilling fluid systems. You will be responsible for the design, testing, and implementation of drilling fluid programs, addressing challenges such as formation stability, hole cleaning, and fluid loss control. This hybrid role allows for a balance of hands-on field support and remote analysis, providing critical expertise to a range of drilling projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and recommend drilling fluid systems tailored to specific well conditions and objectives.
- Supervise fluid mixing and testing on rig sites, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Monitor fluid performance during drilling operations and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Conduct laboratory testing of drilling fluid properties and recommend adjustments.
- Maintain detailed records of fluid properties, volumes, and operational data.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or Mud Engineer.
- Strong understanding of drilling fluid chemistry, properties, and applications.
- Familiarity with testing equipment and procedures for drilling fluids.
- Ability to work effectively both on-site and remotely, with strong problem-solving skills.
