About the Role
Our client seeks a knowledgeable and hands-on Drilling Fluids Engineer to be based in Sunderland . This role is pivotal in managing and optimizing drilling fluid systems to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. You will be responsible for the design, testing, and application of drilling fluids, as well as providing on-site technical support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fluid chemistry and rheology, with a commitment to maintaining operational integrity and performance in challenging drilling environments. This role requires a presence in the field and office, contributing directly to the success of drilling campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and optimize drilling fluid systems for various well conditions.
- Conduct laboratory testing of drilling fluid properties and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for drilling fluid operations on rig sites.
- Manage inventory and logistics for drilling fluid products and equipment.
- Prepare technical reports on fluid performance and recommend adjustments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer or in a related role.
- Solid understanding of fluid rheology , chemistry, and additives.
- Experience with mud logging and data interpretation is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a drilling operations team.
