About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Horticulturalist to join their team in the Southampton area. This role focuses on the cultivation, maintenance, and care of a diverse range of plants in various settings, including botanical gardens, private estates, and commercial landscaping projects. You will be responsible for ensuring plant health, managing planting schemes, and contributing to the aesthetic appeal and ecological well-being of the designated areas. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, plant, and maintain gardens, landscapes, and plant collections, ensuring optimal growing conditions.
• Identify and treat plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies using appropriate methods.
• Prune, trim, and shape plants according to horticultural best practices and design requirements.
• Operate and maintain horticultural equipment, including mowers, strimmers, and specialized planting tools.
• Advise on plant selection, soil improvement, and sustainable gardening techniques.
• Contribute to seasonal planting plans and garden development projects.

Requirements

• Horticultural qualification (e.g., RHS Certificate or Diploma) or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in horticulture, garden management, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of plant identification, propagation, cultivation, and pest/disease control.
• Proficiency in using garden machinery and hand tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for plant care and aesthetics.
