Horticulturalist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Horticulturalist to manage and develop their extensive gardens and grounds located in Wolverhampton . This role is responsible for the planning, cultivation, and maintenance of diverse plant collections, ensuring they are healthy, aesthetically pleasing, and managed sustainably. You will work closely with groundskeeping staff to deliver exceptional horticultural standards, contributing to the beauty and ecological health of the property. This position is perfect for someone with a deep understanding of plants and a hands-on approach to creating and maintaining outstanding green spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, plant, and maintain a wide variety of ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
• Monitor plant health, diagnose and treat pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.
• Implement horticultural best practices for irrigation, pruning, fertilizing, and soil enrichment.
• Manage and lead a small team of gardeners, providing guidance and training.
• Contribute to the design and development of new garden areas and landscape features.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in Horticulture, such as a RHS Diploma or equivalent.
• Substantial practical experience in garden management and plant cultivation.
• Knowledge of plant identification, propagation, and pest/disease control.
• Ability to operate garden machinery and tools safely.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
