Horticulturalist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Horticulturalist to manage and maintain their extensive gardens and grounds in Belfast . This role involves the planning, cultivation, and care of a diverse range of plants, ensuring the aesthetic appeal and ecological health of the landscape. You will be responsible for everything from planting and pruning to pest control and soil enrichment, working as part of a dedicated groundskeeping team. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with a deep passion for plants and a commitment to maintaining high standards of horticultural excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement planting schemes for ornamental gardens, including seasonal displays.
• Cultivate and maintain a wide variety of plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers, ensuring optimal growing conditions.
• Perform regular garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and propagation.
• Identify and treat plant diseases, pests, and disorders using appropriate and sustainable methods.
• Manage irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage.
• Operate and maintain gardening machinery and tools safely and effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience in horticulture, garden design, or landscape management.
• Strong knowledge of plant identification, cultivation, and care requirements for a diverse range of species.
• Familiarity with organic gardening principles and sustainable practices .
• Experience with garden machinery and tools.
• Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• A qualification in Horticulture or a related field is preferred.
