Industrial Engineering Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Industrial Engineering Manager to lead their engineering functions in Plymouth, Devon, UK . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of industrial engineering, including process design, optimization, lean implementation, and operational efficiency improvements. You will guide a team of engineers, develop long-term engineering strategies, and ensure that manufacturing processes are scalable, cost-effective, and meet stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership qualities, a deep understanding of manufacturing operations, and a proven ability to drive transformational change within a dynamic industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the industrial engineering department, setting strategic direction and objectives.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, systems, and layouts.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement and waste reduction.
• Manage project portfolios, ensuring timely delivery and successful outcomes for all engineering initiatives.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the engineering team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering , with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) , and other operational excellence methodologies.
• Strong experience in project management, including scope definition, resource planning, and risk assessment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
