About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and organised Insurance Claims Handler to join their team in Portsmouth . In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of customer claims efficiently and effectively, from initial notification through to settlement. You will act as a key point of contact for policyholders, providing clear communication, empathy, and a high level of service throughout the claims process. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and register new insurance claims, ensuring all necessary details are captured accurately.
- Investigate claims by gathering information, obtaining documentation, and speaking with policyholders and third parties.
- Assess liability and coverage, applying policy terms and conditions to determine the validity of claims.
- Negotiate settlements with policyholders and third parties within defined authority limits.
- Process payments and ensure timely closure of claims files.
- Provide excellent customer service, keeping policyholders informed of claim progress and addressing their queries promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in claims handling or a customer service role, preferably within the insurance sector.
- Strong understanding of insurance principles and policy wordings.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing case files.
- Proficiency in using claims management systems and standard office software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a structured environment in Portsmouth .
