About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced and innovative Lead Process Design Engineer to spearhead their process design initiatives in Cambridge . This senior role involves leading design projects from conceptualization through to detailed engineering, ensuring the application of best practices, cutting-edge technology, and robust safety standards. You will guide a team of engineers, collaborate closely with stakeholders, and be responsible for delivering high-quality process designs that meet technical, economic, and environmental objectives. This is a key position offering leadership, technical challenge, and the opportunity to influence the design of major chemical process facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process design activities for capital projects, from concept through to detailed engineering.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), mass and energy balances, and P&IDs.
- Perform process simulations, equipment sizing, and specification development.
- Oversee and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for new designs.
- Mentor and guide junior process design engineers, fostering technical excellence.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering .
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in process design engineering, with significant project leadership.
- Proven expertise in conceptual and detailed process design for chemical plants.
- Strong knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and CAD tools.
- In-depth understanding of process safety principles and risk assessment techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
