About the Role
Our client is seeking a capable and experienced Livestock Manager to oversee their animal farming operations near Liverpool . This role is crucial for maintaining the health, welfare, and productivity of the farm's animal population. You will be responsible for managing daily feeding, health monitoring, breeding programs, and ensuring compliance with all animal welfare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal husbandry, excellent leadership skills to manage farmhands, and a practical understanding of farm operations. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily care and management of livestock, including feeding, watering, and health checks.
- Implement and manage breeding programs to optimize herd or flock performance.
- Monitor animal health and implement preventative measures against diseases, working with veterinary staff.
- Ensure all animal welfare standards and regulations are met and maintained.
- Manage livestock housing, facilities, and equipment, ensuring they are kept in good condition.
- Supervise and train farmhands involved in livestock operations.
Requirements
- A qualification in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in managing livestock operations.
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and reproductive cycles.
- Familiarity with common livestock diseases and their treatment.
- Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively.
- Good record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
