About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Livestock Manager to oversee the health, welfare, and productivity of their livestock operations near Reading . This role demands a comprehensive understanding of animal husbandry, breeding programs, and efficient farm management practices. You will lead a team, ensuring the highest standards of care and operational efficiency, while contributing to the farm's overall success and sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement breeding programs to optimize livestock genetics and productivity.
- Oversee daily feeding, watering, and health management routines for all livestock.
- Monitor animal health closely, implementing preventative care measures and managing treatments.
- Ensure compliance with all animal welfare regulations and industry best practices.
- Manage a team of livestock workers, providing training, supervision, and performance management.
- Maintain accurate records of livestock movements, health treatments, and production data.
- Manage inventory of feed, bedding, and veterinary supplies.
Requirements
- Significant experience in livestock management , preferably in a supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of animal husbandry, nutrition, and veterinary care.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Strong understanding of breeding cycles and reproductive technologies.
- Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
- Relevant qualification in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
