About the Role
Our client is looking for a seasoned and results-oriented Mine Operations Manager to lead their mining activities in the Sunderland region. This senior position requires a strategic thinker capable of overseeing all day-to-day operations, driving efficiency, productivity, and the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for managing budgets, leading multidisciplinary teams, and implementing innovative operational strategies to ensure the profitable and sustainable extraction of mineral resources. The successful candidate will have a strong background in operational leadership within the mining sector and a proven ability to manage complex projects and teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct all aspects of mine site operations, including production, maintenance, and safety.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mining professionals, including engineers, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Implement and enforce stringent safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality control measures.
- Optimize production processes and resource utilization to meet or exceed targets.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as exploration, engineering, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related technical field; an MBA or relevant Master's degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mine operations management, with a strong emphasis on leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in managing large operational budgets and capital expenditure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of mining equipment, techniques, and best practices for open-pit or underground operations.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to the mining industry in the UK .
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
