About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Mine Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of their mining activities in the Newcastle upon Tyne region. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will manage a diverse team of mining professionals, implement best practices in operational safety and productivity, and contribute significantly to the strategic direction of the company's mining division. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in mine management and a proven track record of successful operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational plans to achieve production targets and efficiency goals.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all mining operations.
- Manage and optimize the performance of mining equipment, plant, and machinery.
- Lead, train, and mentor operational staff, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
- Control operational budgets, manage costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
- Liaise with senior management, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine operations management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven expertise in underground or open-pit mining operations , depending on site specifics.
- Strong knowledge of mine planning software, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a high-pressure environment.
