Mine Planning Engineer - Hybrid

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mine Planning Engineer to join their operations team in Birmingham . This role is crucial for designing and optimizing mine layouts, production schedules, and resource extraction strategies to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. You will work closely with site-based teams and contribute to strategic planning, blending onsite presence with remote analysis to achieve maximum productivity and sustainability in our mining projects . This hybrid position offers the best of both worlds, combining fieldwork with the flexibility of remote work for analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short-term and long-term mine production plans and schedules.
• Design and optimize mine layouts, including pit designs, haul roads, and waste dump configurations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for new mining projects and expansions.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) for modeling and simulation.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure plans are implemented effectively and safely.
• Monitor mine performance against plans and implement adjustments as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open-pit or underground mining.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment, and geological principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a hybrid work environment.
