Remote Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mine Planning Engineer to join their expanding team, operating on a fully remote basis. This critical role involves developing and optimizing long-term and short-term mine plans for various operational sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will leverage advanced planning software and collaborate closely with site-based operational teams to translate strategic objectives into practical, executable plans. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update long-term mine plans (5+ years) and short-term production schedules using industry-standard software.
• Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and sensitivity analyses for new and existing mining projects.
• Optimize mine layouts, production sequences, and equipment utilization to maximize resource recovery and minimize costs.
• Collaborate with site operations, geology, and engineering teams to ensure plan alignment and address operational challenges.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for mine planning and production.
• Ensure all mine plans adhere to stringent safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and operations, with a proven track record in open-pit or underground mining.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
• Strong understanding of mine surveying, geotechnical principles, and production sequencing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective remote collaboration with diverse teams.
